La Conciergerie and Sainte-Chapelle
Behind its allure as a fairytale castle, the turreted Conciergerie (the first royal palace, also known as the Palais de la Cité) hides a bloody past: During the Revolution it served as a prison for those condemned to the guillotine, including Queen Marie-Antoinette. Remnants of its revolutionary history are still visible in mock prison cells, but the Conciergerie’s main draw nowadays is its stunning medieval architecture. After visiting, head up the road to the 13th-century Sainte-Chapelle, which contains some of the finest stained glass windows in the world.
This exhibition, which highlights the theme of imprisonment, together, curated by Caroline Bourgeois, a selection of about 50 works – installations, videos, paintings, sculptures, photographs – even unprecedented 22 different artists. Visitors will discover, among other creations of Michelangelo Pistoletto, Diana Thater, Bill Viola, Ahmed Alsoudani, Raphaelle Ricol, Damien Hirst, Julie Mehretu or Chen Zhen.
This major exhibition will coincide with the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC) which runs from October 24 to 27 at the Grand Palais in Paris.

Billionaire Francois Pinault had originally planned to open a private museum to house his impressive art collection, but in 2005 abandoned the idea and decided to display the works at the the Palazzo Grassi in Venice instead.
