Fernando Roig is  majority shareholder and president of Villarreal CF

Fernando Roig acquired the majority shareholding Villarreal team in the 1997-98 season, in which he combined the direction of both Villarreal CF and the Pamesa Valencia(basketball team)

Under his leadership, the club Villarreal  reached the  Spanish Primera Division, playing European competitions, both the UEFA Cup and the Champions League.

Today  Pamesa is run by his  brother Juan Roig.

In January 2009 he received the award for “Best Sports Leader 2008” awarded by the newspaper Mundo Deportivo
