Steven Anthony “Steve” Ballmer (born March 24, 1956)is an American businessman who was the chief executive officer of Microsoft from January 2000 to February 2014,and is the current owner of the Los Angeles Clippers. As of January 22, 2015, his personal wealth is estimated at US$20.6 billion,ranking number 23 on the Forbes 400.It was announced on August 23, 2013, that he would step down as Microsoft’s CEO within 12 months. On February 4, 2014, Ballmer retired as CEO and was succeeded by Satya Nadella; Ballmer resigned from the Board of Directors on August 19, 2014 to prepare for teaching a new class and for the start of the NBA season.
On May 29, 2014, Ballmer placed a bid of $2 billion to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association(NBA).He officially became the Clippers owner on August 12, 2014.

On November 12, 2014, it was announced that Ballmer and his wife Connie donated $50 million to the University of Oregon. Connie Ballmer is a University of Oregon alum, and serves on the institution’s Board of Trustees. The funds will go towards the university’s $2 billion fundraising effort, and will focus towards scholarships, public health research and advocacy, and external branding/communications.
On November 13, 2014, it was announced that Ballmer would provide a gift to Harvard University’s computer science department. The gift will allow the department to hire new faculty, and hopefully increase the national stature of the program. Ballmer previously donated $10 million to the same department in 1994, in a joint-gift with Bill Gates

Connie Ballmer of Bellevue, Wash., grew up in Oregon City and received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon in 1984. She now serves as a community volunteer and advocate for the well-being of children. She manages the Ballmer family’s philanthropic giving, which focuses on improving the outcomes of the most vulnerable and economically disadvantaged families through grant making, collaboration and investments in systems reform.
Ballmer began her career by working in both the Portland and Bellevue offices of Waggener Edstrom public relations, which serves the high tech sector. She has served on a variety of non-profit boards for organizations including Overlake Hospital, National Public Radio, KCTS Television and Lakeside School. She was a member of the UO’s Journalism Advancement Council during 1993-94. She says that her most time intensive and fulfilling project over the past 21 years has been raising her three sons.
Ballmer’s lives in Hunts Point, Washington.He owns property on Whidbey Island.
With a population of roughly 400 people, Hunts Point is a small but wealthy town located just across Lake Washington from Seattle. It’s about a fifteen minute drive to Microsoft’s campus in Redmond.
